A Comparison for Artists and Galleries

QuRated.art vs Artsy

Artsy gives approved partners access to a major marketplace audience. QuRated.art gives artists and galleries direct control of the pages, relationships, shows, fair presence, Printed Materials, engagement intelligence, and sales paths they build around their own work.

Last reviewed: July 23, 2026.

Sourced against Artsy's official pages and documentation, and corrected when applications change.

Can independent artists sell directly on Artsy?

As of July 23, 2026, Artsy works with galleries, auction houses, art fairs, and institutions rather than directly with individual artists. Its gallery partnerships page tells artists who show with a gallery to direct that gallery to apply. Artsy's separate consignment channel accepts only works by artists with established secondary-market demand, and does not accept submissions from artists selling their own work. On Artsy, vetted gallery partners list and maintain the artwork listings.

Artists may still appear on Artsy through an approved gallery or another partner. Anyone can open a QuRated.art account and publish public artist, artwork, and show pages today, without an application or approval process.

Artsy pricing

Artsy does not publish current plan prices. Its official materials describe several subscription plans, recommended after application, typically billed monthly, each including a subscription fee plus a commission on e-commerce transactions.

Independent sources have reported Artsy plans at roughly $350 to $1,000 per month, setup fees around $400 to $800, and commissions of about 3% to 19%, but the figures conflict and are not an official current Artsy rate sheet.

QuRated.art prices are loaded from the active plan data used by its pricing page. Artsy pricing language was reviewed from its official partner materials on July 23, 2026.

Marketplace reach and first-party reach

Artsy offers access to an existing marketplace audience. QuRated.art helps artists and galleries build, retain, extend, and understand first-party collector reach around their own work, shows, fairs, and professional relationships.

Artsy marketplace reach

Reviewed July 23, 2026: Over 2 million registered users, with collectors across 190 or more countries; over 1 million artworks, 90,000 or more artists, and 4,000 or more galleries listed; 700 or more partner museums and institutions; 60 or more fairs previewable. Artsy and Artnet, which joined forces in April 2026 under shared ownership, report a combined reach of over 60 million annual visitors and 9.8 million or more social followers, across 190 or more countries.

QuRated.art first-party reach

Public artist, Gallery, artwork, show, and exhibition pages controlled by the account, including show and exhibition pages used for fair participation; direct sharing of artwork, show, and profile links, plus Phone Share Cards with their own reporting source; Printed Materials that retain physical visitors; the Tab Effect, which extends a physical encounter past the moment it happened; QID professional discovery and persistent connections; open inquiry and sales paths on those pages; and measurement of the interest an account's own materials and events actually generate.

First-party reach both retains and expands: public pages, searchable content, sharing paths, fairs, and professional connections can bring new people in, not only hold the ones already known.

Marketplace discovery and first-party discovery

Marketplace discovery with Artsy

Marketplace search; recommendation algorithms and personalized alerts; follows and saves; curated collections and editorial; fair pages; built-in collector traffic.

First-party and professional discovery with QuRated.art

Public pages with search visibility; shared artwork and show links; QID professional introductions and connections; Phone Share Cards and business-card QR assets; fair and exhibition materials; referrals and direct sharing.

QID supports professional artist, Gallery, and peer discovery and connection without operating as a global public marketplace directory.

A scan can lead to the artwork, the artist, the Gallery, the show, price and availability, related listings, sharing, a qualifying inquiry, a purchase of sellable artwork, or an eligible commission request, depending on the material and its setup.

QuRated.art does not design complete posters, business cards, postcards, invitations, or checklists. It provides the attributable QR asset that goes into your own design.

The Tab Effect

A visitor scans a wall label, a handout, a poster asset, a business-card QR, a Phone Share Card, or another supported material. The artwork or show page opens in their mobile browser and can remain available after they leave the fair, exhibition, opening, pop-up, or studio.

That page supports returning later, sharing, revisiting the artwork, checking price or availability, inquiring, purchasing sellable artwork, and continuing engagement long after the physical encounter ends.

A printed card handed to a visitor is a hope. A scanned page is a place they can go back to. The Tab Effect is the bridge between a physical encounter at a fair or opening and what happens next: it doesn't identify the same person across later visits, and no scan is tied to a specific sale, but the page itself keeps working after the room empties out.

QID professional relationships

QID creates persistent professional connections among artists, galleries, studios, artist hosts, and collaborators, existing outside any exhibition.

The relationship is multidirectional. Artists can connect, request an exhibition opportunity, pursue participation, and offer eligible artwork. Hosts can invite, review, and select or release. Through an active connection, authorized users can privately review an artist's active body of work, including available and sold pieces with displayed pricing context. Only the offer and selection stage is tied to a specific exhibition; the source QuRated.art account keeps the artwork record, and duplicate Gallery entry isn't required for that event.

Public pages and record control

QuRated.art's public pages, artist and Gallery presence, artwork and show pages, and exhibitions are connected to each other and to Printed Materials, inquiries, eligible sales, and Commissioned Artwork. Through QID, an artist offering work into a hosted exhibition keeps the source record.

Artsy hosts artist pages, artwork listings, gallery profiles, shows, fairs, viewing rooms, auction lots, and curated collections within Artsy's own brand and interface, maintained by vetted gallery partners.

On Artsy, work appears inside Artsy's marketplace experience. On QuRated.art, the public pages, show records, materials, and engagement paths belong to the account's connected presence.
